Check that both PDFs contain selectable text

The tool extracts text before comparing it. If you cannot select and copy a sentence in your PDF viewer, the file is probably a scanned image: run both files through PDF OCR first. Two documents with the same text but a different design can also show no differences.

How to read the result

Lines beginning with + were added in the revised version; lines beginning with − were removed from the original. The report helps you find blocks to review, not decide on its own which version is legally valid.

Does it compare signatures and images?

No. This version compares extractable text, not pixels or graphic elements.

Can it replace a final legal review?

Use it to help locate changes, not as a replacement for complete document review.

Why does it say the PDFs are identical when I can see changes?

The comparison does not analyze pixels. If only typography, color, an image, or text position changed, extractable text can be identical and the report will show no difference.

What is the maximum size for each PDF?

You can select files up to 75 MB each. Large documents can take longer because text is processed inside your browser.

Are both PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Text is extracted and compared in your browser; files are not uploaded to PriviTools.
